About These Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Garden Commuter website (“the Site”) operated by The Garden Commuter (“we”, “us”, “our”). By registering an account or using the Site you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Site.
2 Account Types
The Site offers the following account types, each with its own features and pricing:
- Regular User — free; access to the community forum, articles, and newsletter.
- Premium Member — paid monthly subscription. Includes a publicly visible profile, work portfolio (up to 8 examples), job applications, and direct messaging. Billing starts on the site launch date of 1 July 2026 for pre-registered accounts.
- Supplier — paid monthly subscription. Includes a listing in the TGC Supplier Directory. Billing starts on the site launch date of 1 July 2026 for pre-registered accounts.
- Advertiser — paid per ad format/slot. Includes display advertising across the Site.
- Recruiter — paid monthly subscription. Includes job posting, access to Premium member profiles, and applicant management tools. Billing starts on the site launch date of 1 July 2026 for pre-registered accounts.
3 Pre-Registration Offer
Accounts registered before the site launch date of 1 July 2026 receive a free trial period and one additional free month. No payment is charged until the site goes live on 1 July 2026. After that date, billing runs on the 1st of each month. You may cancel at any time via your Dashboard before the next billing date.
4 Payments & Billing
4.1 Subscription fees are charged monthly on the 1st of each month unless you have a quarterly or annual plan.
4.2 Advertiser renewals are taken automatically 7 days before your ad end date. Your ad stops at 12:00 noon on the final day of your billing period. An immediate stop option is available from your Dashboard.
4.3 We do not take any commission or percentage on work, transactions, or payments agreed between Premium Members and third parties. Our charge is a flat membership fee only.
4.4 All prices are displayed in GBP and are exclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
4.5 You may cancel your subscription at any time from your Dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued for unused time.
5 Community Forum
5.1 The community forum is available to all registered users.
5.2 You must not post job requests, unsolicited commercial messages, or spam in the forum. Recruiters must post all job listings through the Jobs board only.
5.3 Posting job requests in the community forum will result in immediate account suspension without refund.
5.4 You are responsible for all content you post. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
6 Premium Profiles & Work Examples
6.1 Premium Members may publish a public profile visible to all registered users including Recruiters and Suppliers.
6.2 Work examples are limited to 8 portfolio entries per account. Each entry may include images, a description, key features, and benefits.
6.3 You are responsible for ensuring that any content you upload — including images and descriptions — does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights.
6.4 Premium Members control whether their CV is visible to Recruiters via their Dashboard settings.
7 Job Board
7.1 Recruiters may post up to the number of job listings included in their plan per month. Unused postings do not carry over.
7.2 Job postings must be genuine, lawful vacancies. Misleading or fraudulent postings will be removed and may result in account suspension.
7.3 Applications, CV access, and direct messaging are available to registered members only.
7.4 TGC is not party to any employment agreement or work arrangement made through the Site. All hiring decisions, rates, contracts, and payments are made directly between the parties involved.
8 Advertising
8.1 Ad slots are shared fairly across a maximum of 20 advertisers per slot type. Each page view rotates one ad per slot.
8.2 Ad creatives must comply with UK advertising standards (ASA/CAP Code). We reserve the right to reject or remove any ad that does not meet our content standards.
8.3 Ad images must be JPG or PNG format, maximum 2 MB, at the dimensions specified for the chosen format.
9 Account Security & Password Reset
9.1 You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password with anyone.
9.2 Password reset links are generated on request, are unique to your account, expire after 2 hours, and become invalid immediately upon use.
9.3 If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@thegardencommuter.co.uk.
10 Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
- Post or transmit any content that is defamatory, harassing, abusive, or offensive.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other user accounts or the Site’s systems.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers on the Site without our written permission.
- Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or business credentials.
11 Intellectual Property
All content on the Site created by The Garden Commuter — including articles, reviews, design, and code — is our intellectual property or that of our contributors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or republish it without our written permission. Content you upload remains your property; by uploading it you grant us a licence to display it on the Site.
12 Limitation of Liability
12.1 The Site is provided “as is”. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.
12.2 We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the Site or from any transaction or arrangement made between users through the Site.
12.3 Our total liability to you shall not exceed the fees you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

Changes to These Terms

Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
